OYSOWA Summit to hold 6th – 8th December, 2017

The Oyo State Officials’ Wives Association (OYSOWA), is an initiative led by the wife of the Governor of Oyo State, Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi to bring together all wives of politically-elected and appointed officials in the State, to lead the charge in the development of women in Oyo State, and also to galvanize these women in support of the vision of the State Government.

Some of the issues that have been on the front burner include poverty alleviation schemes, appointments, and domestication of laws that prescribe punishments for violence against women and child abuse, etc. Since the summit began six years ago, more than 10,000 women have been empowered with life-changing business ideas, knowledge and financial support.

The theme for this year’s summit is ‘The Resilient Woman: Making A Difference”, and as has been the custom with the Summit since inception, top-notch speakers who have excelled in their chosen fields are invited to come and share their experiences with other women in Oyo state, as a way of encouraging these women; the success testimonies have been very overwhelming every year.

Some of these speakers are; Mrs. Jumoke Adenowo, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo, Lady Kehinde Kamson, Mrs. Yewande Zaccheus, Mrs. Omilola Osikoya, Mrs. Victoria Oluwaseun, Senator Binta Masi Garba.

Due to the globally-acclaimed impacts that we have made to lift women out of the shackle of deprivation, discrimination and poverty, as well as promotion of women’s health, the former VP of Zimbabwe, Mrs. Joice Mejuru, has graciously accepted our invitation as the Special Guest of Honor for the #OYSOWA2017 conference.

The #OYSOWA2017 Conference will take place at the International Conference Center, University of Ibadan, from the 6th – 8th December, 2017; Events will kick off at 8am on each day.
